I had the same thing happen to me. I had one male clicked for breeding and no one else and I went from 30 to 80 over night!!! I don't get it. Now I have met my complete compasity and I can't get the gc until some one dies and even then the villagers breed again and I don't know it. You would think that they would know when to keep it in there pants so to speak.

One way to help control unexpected population booms is to allow only females to initiate the breeding, and the moment they're successful, switch back their checked task to something else. Even if eventually they end up with enough experience to go off breeding on their own, they impregnate only themselves, not half (or the whole) village as a male breeder can do.
