I am new to this game and was wondering if you had any tips for me. Also I am a very impatient person from what I have heard about the game what can I do about it. I hate cheating!

Hey Ruben, here is a great post from the Queen Bee of LDW on tips. This will help you out a lot.

What I do at the start of a new game is first unblock the well, then put two villagers on gathering food and the rest on the research table. Once my food bin gets above 500, I'll put one of the foraging villagers on the table as well. I'll leave it at that until I have enough tech point to get buy the second level of Farming.

If you are the impatient type I'd also sugest running this in the background while you play other games, shop ebay, read mail, etc. Don't just sit there and watch it you'll go nuts.

What are the jobs your people can get? Like I already know
Healer
Builder
Scientist
Farmer
Parent

from the the fourms! Are there any I missed? Thats excatly what I do do. I had planned to sit and watch until they got 60000 tech points...but now I have decided against it!

What DOES the cactus plant do for you or your healer?
I have got
2 people foraging
3 researching
0 building (even though I have 2 builders!)
0 healing (Cause I have no healers)

OK I know I am obsessed and I also know 3 posts from me in a row is wrong but I still have some questions!
Here they are:
Why are my villagers so stubborn ''I tell a guy to forage after 3 seconds he cleans up beach''
Will my scientists ever get lab coats?
How much food should you have before you have a baby?
Could you please call me Ben thats my nickname in real life?
Is it a good idea to keep game on when I am sleeping?
Can't just regular villagers heal people?

Hi Ben

Make sure you check your villager's preferred skill in the detail screen -- they will usually perform that skill on their own as long as it's the skill they have the most experience in, and they have at least a trainee level.

no lab coats, sorry -- not all scientists wear them

400 food in the bin is a good milestone for starting to raise your population...but don't let it get out of hand (stay below 15 people) until you get fishing.

Once you have 400 food, you can probably stop pausing the game when you quit. But keep checking frequently until you've finished the game -- especially if you don't have fishing yet .

Any villager can heal, just like any villager can build, fish, breed, or research.

Good luck!

Hi Ben, the villagers are quite annoying and you have to keep putting them back to do what you want sometimes, until they learn how to do it for themselves. On the details screen, the boxes on the right can be ticked and then your villager will prefer this job: so if you ticked farming they should continue to forage, if you tick builder they will work on building projects ect.
I love the idea of lab coats but I've been playing for a while and none have shown up. You can change their outfits though by pressing F6 but be careful cos once you get to the last outfit you can't go back. There is a very detailed post with pics of the outfits in order on this forum, it's probably worth looking at that first.
As for how much food, mine seem to be happy as long as the food is over about 500. I can't remember exactly how much you need before they'll disappear into the shed but it does say they are to worried about food, as soon as they stop running away keep it above that level.
The first night I left my game running on half speed and about 5 people died, so for the first few nights I paused it. Now I've got a thriving village, loads of food and need a gazilion tech point I leave it on.
And yes any body can heal. I was thrown into a panic when my Doc got ill but thankfully the ever reliable 'Village Idiot' set me right on that.
Hope all that helps. As for being impatient, it's defiantly a game to have going on while doing other things.
