It says that "Master Researchers generate more tech points than others" in the little hints/info bar. Does that mean they only generate more when researching, or if they improve in other areas will they also gather more tech points than say, a master farmer doing the same thing? (i.e., they both improve in healing -- does the scientist bring me more points than the farmer?)

Also, many times I'll drag my Master Scientist back to the table only to see the message that he has already mastered this skill. So, should I let him go try to push the boulder or look at the rock or any of the other things he wants to do?

Should I allow him to do laundry? At this point (now that he's healthy again) all I let him do is eat, drink and stay at that table. Should I help him gain other kinds of skills like I do with other types of professions?

In fact, I'm unsure how the tech points are actually accrued. Is it when they improve in ANYTHING? And ANYONE improving? Or is it completely unrelated to that? If it's completely unrelated, what's it related to?

you get the tech points from simply having researchers well research so leaving them to research away at the table is important as it will continuously get you skills as long as your researcher is there at the table (sort of like how your farmers need to be in the water to fish) same deal hope that helps

To generate tech points, they have to be at the table. When you get the message, "he has aleady mastered this skill", that simply means that he has maxed out on that skill. So keep him at the table!

And what is with the laundry anyway?
Are any skills acrued doing laundry?
I tend to stop my guys if I see them doing it and set them doing something worthwhile.

No skills are acrued doing laundry. Some say it helps their villagers from getting sick, but I have not noticed that. I do as you do LadyDie.

OK -- Thank you. I'm having a harder and harder time keeping my Master Scientists at the table! Argh! (and we won't even talk about the builders and the temple...)

Yanyhoo. Thanks for the Laundry tip too, and LadyD for asking -- I never allow them to do laundry unless they happen to be almost finished when I find them (then I allow them to finish b/c I have some misplaced sense of something. )
