Newbie poster here and player too, i guess.

I've been through the game and not made it about 4 times now and it's getting a little frustrating, although i might get it next time. It just stinks to have to keep starting over every time...hehe

Anyways, is there a way on the Sim(palm OS) version to see how long it will be until the havesting will be ready? I see to get pretty far but everyone dies because the harvest takes FOREVER to come up. Almost too long to believe that it isn't bugged somehow. Woke up this morning at 6:30am and checked it, then the harvest still wasn't up at 12:00(5 hours later) and my people were all dead by 1pm because of starvation! It really stunk because i had 35k tech points and was close to fishing.

Anyone have any info on this? do they need to even water and plant seeds after 1 person is successful or is it on a timer?
I checked the guides but they seem to be lacking what the best order to use the tech points are and the details on what happens when you are low on food and the harvest doesn't ever come up. Seems to be more geared on facts about the game than an actual guide.

Or maybe i'm going about it all wrong. I'm not sure at this point.

The ability to check on when the next crops will appear is only available in the Windows and Mac versions. In the Palm version of the game, the crops on the farm can become unreliable under certain circumstances. Please have a look at this thread to see if it helps you.

Makes sense but the odd thing is that i never pause my games. It's rather frustrating considering that this happened to me 3 out of 4 games now, all resulting in everyone dieing.

Seems like a bug in my opinion. I'm going to give it one more shot and if it happens again, i'm going to assume it's a palm OS bug and happens to some and not to others, especially since i don't see much mention of it here on the boards. It's a pretty stinky bug though. really ruins the game when you get on a role. Oh well, back to the drawing boards.

Well, there is another possibility to consider. How many villagers are you trying to support with the farm? If it's more than a dozen, they're probably eating all the food before you even see crops. You really need level 3 of Harvesting if you want to support a higher population.

The way to determine if your farm is actually producing is to check the stats screen. If the food quantity is going up, they are harvesting all of the crops while the game is off. The crop graphic will only appear if there are crops actually on the farm when the game is running. They continue to harvest and eat when the game is off.
