Does anyone know a quick way to earn tech points. I currently have 5000 but need a lot more to buy my next levels. I try and have all my villagers researching but it means nothing else is getting done.

The fastest way that I know is to assign a few villagers to research and just let them do the job.
You may also encounter Island Events from time to time that can have some effect on different Techs depending on how they are handled. My advice is: consider carefully what action to take, not eveything is as it seems, for example, just because you hear a growling, doesn't mean there is always danger...It's a gamble.
