Ok, I finally got lvl 3 construction and an build the temple from the ruins, BUT I have had a girl at the very tip of adept builder on the bar... she is literally a step away from being a master builder - YET - she has been at this same spot since the end stages of the last building! I have been religiously training her on fixing huts and now she has been doing the temple ruins for about an hour (up to 6 percent), and STILL no FREAKING CLUE if she is EVER going to become a master!!!!

I also tried a hint from a thread here saying if you take them off the job as soon as it says "gained experience" and put them right back on it again, they will level faster. (Also, it would leave most of the ruin left to do for ppl I want to train after her).

Is this a lunatic goal, or is there someone who knows exactly how long it takes to level up from adept to master?

I am running at 2x's speed and have tried it with the game on and off... NOTHING!!!

I am so frustrated at not having any clue how long it takes. Do I have to have lvl 3 spitituality before she can become a master builder, or what?

I believe the skill increase is random -- there's a chance the skill will increase when the villager is successful. The chance is smaller as the villager's skill increases, so getting to master level takes much longer than reaching trainee or adept.

The hint you've mentioned will help her build faster -- and since she's building faster, she'll have more chances to gain skill. You can do the same thing with researchers and tech points.

You just have to be patient with this -- since the chance is random, it will happen faster for some villagers and slower for others.

Do not worry about training another builder -- your other builders can learn by fixing huts once you've finished all your building tasks anyway. (I have several master builders that were kids when I finished building anything -- they just fix huts all day!)

don't get so frustrated (Level 2 Patience Tech required .. lol)... your builder has plenty time to become a master between the temple and the subsequent structure that will have to be built

I have the same problem, but all my buildings, temple, idol are all built and i still dont have a master builder. Do i have to start over? The adept ones have been fixing huts all day, still havent become master.

See bajantara's comment -- have patience, your builders will become masters with some time...might take a day, might take a few.

well it just happend finally. Took about 16 hours with just fixing huts, but it does work! Picked one builder and only let him fix the huts.

FINALLY! - BTW, I did not know it's random! What is the point in saying you have gained XP, then??? Makes no sense to even put that if it's just completely random!

The chance that the villager gains experience when they succeed at a skill is random, but you have to gain a certain amount to become a trainee/adept/master -- for example, as far as I can tell, a villager has to gain skill 3 times to go from unskilled to trainee. That might happen the first three times they are successful, it might take 5 or 6 times.

The difference is the chance that they will gain skill -- the more skill they have, the less likely that they will gain skill. It takes more effort (like getting a PhD. vs. finishing high school -- trust me on this one, the PhD. is a LOT more difficult ).

oh I thought you were saying that it is random chance that the skill they gain actually goes towards their XP... I gain skill EVERY SINGLE time I try to build on the ruins(from adept onn)... or so it says... but it still took TOOOOOOO LOOONNGG...

If only I saw the meter moving, it would give me more hope and incentive... at least then I would know that what I am doing is actually working.

OK... I have interupted him every time it says "gained XP" - 100 times in a row, now... he had just gotten 4/5ths of the way to the end of the bar (the last stage of "adept"... I know this because I used his placement in research as a marker). That is a CRAZY amount of times! - STILL not a master...

The amount of skill they gain (the amount the bar moves) gets less each time. So to move from Untrained to Trainee only takes a few successes but as they move higher up the bar, the rate the bar moves gets smaller and smaller. It is moving, honest. Just doesn't always look like it.
