I get tech points, but very, very slowly. I have played for 2 days and only have enough points to get level 2 builder. I still need 3,000 more points to get farmer level 2. I move my people around to various spots to research or some other work, and I only get a few tech points at a time. I have cleared the beach, built one hut, cleared the rocks and have a lagoon....but my food is well under 100. I can't figure out how to get more food. No one is a master yet at anything. Are my people just stupid and I need to start all over? Or am I doing something wrong? I only have 7 people because no one will breed because they are too hungry, and now I have only one child to pick mushrooms but he is going to be 14 soon.

You need more farming tech to get access to better food sources.

Since you are running out of berries quickly, don't do ANYTHING else but research. No building, no breeding. Use the time you have left before your child ages to pick mushrooms if you can. Have a villager or two forage if berries reappear, but that won't last long -- back to the research table!

Don't worry about getting "master" level villagers -- that will come with time anyway, since villagers become masters by doing things.

For now, change all your villagers' preferred skills to Research, and buy Farming 2 as soon as you can. In future games, best to avoid spending lots of time building until you have Farming 2 -- you'll have time to build once you have enough food.

Don't get frustrated yet -- the game is supposed to take a while, so don't rush...it's more fun that way, imho

I only allowed one person to gather food. So I could limit the food they gathered. Cause if you don't strip the bush of berrys it grows more faster. Also don't allow anyone to breed and put all your other people you can who aren't kids to researching, I don't know if will work for you but it sure did for me. I'm having a heck of a time getting to level 3 farming so I know how you feel.

I came home from work and everyone was dead
So I am starting all over. Should I make everyone do research first and just have one forager?

Thanks a lot for your help

I had to restart the thing to.
I figured it out. Get the full farming thing, cause once you can get fishing, the food piles up.
Then worry about all the other stuff.

My friend told me, she got one guy, to breed with any woman 18 and over. She was getting one girl who was 60 to breed still.
Not a single woman was working, all the men.
She got over 80 people within 2 days.

Another hint.
You don't have to watch them go into the hut.
Click on the guy, drop him on the girl. Watch you population meter. If it goes up, she's nursing. If not, just keep picking him up and dropping him on her. or vice versa.
Then you see your population metre jump a number, then pick him up and drop him on the next girl.
I had 11 women breeding at once from the same guy lol
