Well, I've played a lot of different types of games and I love this game, but there are improvements that they could make. For one, more looks to the villagers. I have 63 right now and they are starting to all look exactly the same. Second, new areas of the island, maybe even more islands as you unlock new things and research new things. And in these new areas you have to have an explorer person of a certain level to be brave enough to go to certain places and find stuff like new sources of food or more building material. I think it would be awesome. It would be nice too if there were differences between the years and the farm followed them, like a drought season, or a plentiful season. Plus more needs to happen with the spirituality thing. Maybe once they reach a certain level the people can marry and it's not just this big inscest pool. Have family trees and stuff. Of course that would mean when you ventured somewhere you would have to come across a new person or two to keep the genetic pool deep enough. Maybe a "found a baby on your doorstep" event. I've also noticed after the tutorial the villagers never not got along...?

I agree about having new areas on the island. I was almost shocked when the game ended & I realized that was all there was to it.

i play "the sims 2" game & they have a body shop where you build people a person through genitcs( eye color, hair color& skin tone...etc.) i think something like that would be great, give them a little diffrent look to each person.

I agree with expanding this game before going on to VV2 (which I'd also love). It just seems a shame to go through "growing" and training your villages and have it just stop so soon. Although the time spent gaining tech points might take a while, the actual game "action" could use more challenges, tasks, puzzles, etc. And please - if there's a way we could now how much longer moms would be nursing, it would help plan - at least help me! I'd love to see a child born bright enough - or put all that curiosity to good use and finally catch on to how to pick a mushroom after all those times of being plopped down on one he/she is practially standing on! I think my village is heading for disaster this time around anyway (yes, I've finished it before) - I have in my second generation 7 males and only 2 females. Guess the gals will just have to get used to staying home - barefoot and pregnant. Shame to put all that potential to waste. Another thing which bugs me - how about changing the "breeder" status to parent status perhaps - then they don't sound like livestock or slaves. Overall, I love it, though! More, please!

Are you saying it's over? After all that waiting? Once you open the cave it's all over? Where the heck is the rest of the game and where is the thing that has been peeking at my villagers for the last week? GRRRRR...Where's part 2???

Click on the mother and press Details. It gives the time remaining under their health.

I wonder if the term "professional parent" would work in modern society?

Unfortunately, a game with goals must have an end. You can only write so many into one game. That said, more goals please!

Or you can set your own goals! I've done that, and so have a lot of other people. For example, finish all the puzzles (except the graveyard) without any villagers dying, or without ever getting fishing.
Really? Would you please say it clearly?? How to manage it?? Thank you~~

You just need to choose your own goals. There's nothing in the game that will tell you when you've reached them. They're things you invent for yourself.
Here it is clearly: make the graveyard the last puzzle you solve. Can you do it?

Are we sure there's not a hidden puzzle involving that cave? I saw eyes peeking over the rock multiple times. There's a fresh bowl of berries "as if" something has been hiding out in there. Notice the sign post on the title? There's an empty post opposite of the sign "New Home". If you put a nursing mom on the cave nothing happens. If you put the golden child on the cave nothing happens. Male or non-nursing females on the cave give you that message that suggests something else is going on....
Come on, give us some hints!! Pretty please?

I have 3 villages-keep hoping something will happen in the cave but no luck! Sure would be nice to find a whole new area.
How about when a person masters their trade they get a hat? Farmers get straw, doctors white hat, builders a hard hat? That way you could find them quicker if you need a doctor in a mass outbreak of sickness (moldy food). I do give them titles; Dr. Tina and always have trained doctors every decade of life. Still think a visual clue would help.

Hi All! I've been playing for almost 4 days and have 3 different games running at the different difficulty levels. It seems to me that I'm experiencing many different events depending upon the level which makes for more excitement. This forum is great...a newbie just needs to be careful of what they read so as not to spoil the suspense. By the way...I love the game! My dear hubby laughs at me when I'm trying to do some selective breeding.

I am new to this forum as I bought game through Real Arcade. If you are interested, they have a very large VV forum. One of the threads is entitled Virtual Villagers 2 Wish List by Kriis with a lot of interesting ideas i.e. baby backpacks so mothers could keep working, daycare area, etc. The ideas I put forward were some kind of family tree or geneology facility (I've been keeping a separate one on word doc but after 6 generations of just one family gave up). A few other ideas were pretty simple really - feel the love, lol!! I for one hate the term breeder as previously noted in this forum and would prefer parent, mommy/daddy, etc.
Also, when couple embrace and go indoors a little red heart would pop up over their heads and when they go inside love birds would flutter around cottage and coo!! All together now say ahhhhhhh, lol!! The "love shack" could at least look like one, red heart on window, roses round the door, etc. Or have a larger building similar to school called "honeymoon hotel". Just a little romance would be nice!!

HI,
My 8 year old son can pick blackberryies - Why can't children ( 8 and up) pick berries?
Also - please teenagers can get pregnant - maybe increase the risk of death for girl under 21 and over 40 - and there is no reason that a 16 year old male can not cause pregnancy!
Just started playing - and these are some of the things that have jumped out at me.
Look forward to future versions, patches.

I was wondering the same. What has been watching us from the cave? Do we not ever see anything more from that thing?

I love the idea of baby back packs so that the nursing moms can get back to work. I think that the children should go to the school instead of dancing around it. A family tree is an awesome idea considering Teen pregnacy has to be more moral on a dessert island than incest. I love this game it took me 87 hrs to beat it. But I would like to see changes in the weather and the days. A day and night mode would be great. Some tiki torches a camp fire. Shark bites while fishing. Ancestors should walk the sacred grounds of the dead. Witch Doctor would be fun. I think the elderly should watch the young ones ie; tell them stories teach them at the school. I think they should give the Golden child as a sacrafice and throw him in the cave and feed whatever lives in there. You only can have but so many parties. Animals would be cool to wash up on shore. Almost like when pigs were brought to Hawaii. That would be cool.

To start a new village go to the Main page and click on Change Player. Pick New Player and give yourself a new name. You can have up to 5 villages that way. All your old villages will continue and you can keep checking in on them from time to time.

This can't be all there is. After you finish all 16 puzzles that's it? Why are my villagers still so curious about the cactus? Why does the golden child never age, and the children born after him do? Flip through the villagers in the detail page by age, after GC they age out of order. There has to be more to this...

When you start a new village do the same things happen? Or do new things happen? And do you ever see monkeys?

Each game will be different, and you will see different things happen. But you will never see the monkey's.

Hi everyone. New here, but I'm totally engrossed with VV. Just a few thoughts: On the opening sequence where the name "A New Home" hangs there's a similar bar to the right, where another title could hang. Does that mean there's a second installment on the way? What's with the cave mystery? Blinking eyes, a tray of fresh berries, but we never get to see who or what's been living there? I think the island needs to be opened-up, maybe the villagers can find a way through the cave or, since they obviously have boat-building skills, couldn't they build another boat and explore the rest of the island? I have to say I get really attached to my little people, it's very sad when the special ones die, but I guess that's life :-)
I really hope LDOW come up with a sequel, and soon! Meanwhile, thanks for the sim.
Take care
Paul

Actually once, when all my females had died off, one of the male children found a baby girl in a box that had washed ashore. So it's not like the event isn't in there.

I've been done the game for three days now and I keep watching it to see if the thing is going to come out but nothing yet. I figured that once the cave opened up that two tribes would become One and we'd have a whole new puzzle to solve, but it doesn't look that way! Liked the game but its a little confusing because there really isn't an end! I'm still watching but nothings happening!

If you've solved all 16 puzzles then you've completed the game. More is coming in VV2 apparently (and I can't wait...I'm running four games at once now, trying diff things just to get my daily fix!).

I Love the idea of villagers getting a little hat to designate their jobs. A Straw Farmer hat, a construction hard-hat, doctors mask....that would help a lot.
