You'd be surprised how long they can survive. Watch their health bars, and use them as a gauge as to when you need to take drastic measures to help them survive (like spending an hour grabbing every mushroom that appears).

susmin--The is a trick to getting twice as many mushrooms picked, PM me if you don't know it.

you can even get 3 or 4 times as many mushrooms if you plan it just right.
