I allowed too many babies before I got to level 3 of farming. I had so much food saved up I thought I could add a couple more babies. 17 people eat a lot. I still have 20 minutes until the crops are ready and less than 100 in food. How long can they go with no food until they all die? I have about 25000 points to go until I can upgrade farming. ShouldI start over? I have a couple of elderly. Mybe they will die soon.

Get the kids to pick all the mushrooms you can spot... that will help to extend the food supply till your crops grow. YOu shouldn't have to start over with only 20 minutes to go

Ok we made it to crops, but it is being eaten almost as fast as they pick it. What is the maximum number you should have with only level 2 farming?

I don't think there's any specific maximum... you have to guage by seeing how much pressure is put on food stocks when you get an additional child....

That's not exactly true. There are a certain number of crops with each farm cycle, and the farm can be emptied and remain empty until the new crops grow.

I had almost 200 in food and next thing I know it was being eaten rapidly when I hit 17. Perhaps some event took part of my food, but I never saw a message. I think they were just hungry.

17 villagers is more than the farm can comfortably support. As was mentioned earlier, the mushrooms can do a lot to help your peeps survive, but it will take some work on your part!
