I know that the school is supposed to be just a puzzle- but I noticed something- if you hit the drum it actually makes a drumming sound and the kids go running.

Anyone else notice this?
I have not yet been able to tell if they learn anything or not- but it's kind of funny as they just stand outside the doors to the school and wait- if you keep hitting the drum they will run each time they hear the sound and it looks like they are dancing :0)

After reading your post I banged on the drum... how cool! And to think I finished the game and never stumbled on thqat in all the times I tryed to get the 'convert' msg. to disappear.

I've finished the game but, I have to laugh every time I bang the drum. I love the herd of children running to school. How cute!!

I do it when the 20 some kids I have get in my way. That's the only purpose I've found so far. I have noticed that everytime you hit the drum the kids make a different pattern.

the kids don't learn anything from going to school. it just allows them to be born with more skill. i use the drum to keep them out of the way too (especially that pesky GC).

how to bang the drum?

click on it when the hand pointer is over the drum -- you'll hear a clicking noise, not a deep thrum.

FYI, I believe if you use the drum about once a year the kids show about one more level of experience by the time they're old enough to work. I've had adept skill level in 7 year olds!

I just had my doctor say she was "teaching" so I hit the drum and here come the kids and she walked around them and continued to teach them. Then all of a sudden she changed to "telling a joke", and walked away from the school. I didn't notice a change in the kids' skill levels, but I thought it was interesting.

If you play Ave Maria on the drum a nun comes out of the school and herds the kids in with a yardstick.
