I've found myself in an odd situation...My only master builder has died of old age. All 3 huts are built, the beach is clear and the lagoon is clear. Now I need a master builder to proceed in further projects, but all I have is an Adept. I've set him to "fixing huts" and it tells me that he has improved in construction, but every time I look at his detail page his bar is in exactly the same spot.

Has anyone else run into this? Apparently, I spread out my building projects between too many villagers, and only my original builder ever got to master level.

All I can think of to do is just to keep fixing huts, and hoping that eventually I will get that adept to master level. At this rate, I don't think he'll ever get there, though.

There is only one puzzle that requires a master builder. Any villager can work on all of the other construction-related puzzles. However, if you've completed every puzzle but the one requiring a master builder, hut repair is the only option left to you.

I just noticed the other thread addressing this problem, so I'll move my comments there.

My real hour game play is 15 hours and i had 2 master builders already. My technique is to keep dragging the villagers i have intended for them to be master class back to building hut whenever i saw the thread of their skill increase same for what i did to my scientist and farmer. This help shortened the amount of time of their walking about doing nothing.
Pressing F5 can change the type of clothings your villagers wearing but take note that you cant change back the clothings once you press that.

I have tried the F5 thing but it did not work for me.

Yeah, the clothes changing thing can be fun, just be careful not to do it to the GC. Now I can't find the little guy! He just looks like everyone else!
