I've learned that you can pause the game from running while you're not watching. I think it's in the Options from the Main Menu? I had one game that I left running before there was enough food & shelter for the islanders to breed so when I woke up the original group was all dead. It was terribly upsetting!

i know but tokens add up and i dont have to wait
