You can probably breed your villagers with a much lower food count too. With a pop of over 20, as long as my food was over 300 the villagers would "go inside" - sometimes coming out with a baby, sometimes not.

As soon as your 16 year old hits 18, get her pregnant! It's funny cause they keep breeding into their 50's and 60's but have to be 18 to start. Let's hope our children follow that example eh?
