Rite now i seem to be in a bad situation on my first game.

I got my building lvl to 2 and now i have only 1000 Techs and my berries are all gone and i need to get some new source of food.

currently all my people (4) except 1 are researching. so i can improve my farming. is there any way to get food while waiting for the tech?

If you have any children, they can hunt for mushrooms! Many people have salvaged bad situations like yours that way.
