somehow I seem to have paused my game... it actually says 'Game Paused' at the bottom of the screen! I can move villagers around, but they can't move themselves... can you please tell me how on earth I have done this as I don't seem to be able to un-pause it...!!!

Simply press the space bar. That will unpause as well pause the game. Or you can goto the menu screen and then select on options.

I don't know how my two year old does it but always managed to pause the game when I wasn't looking, it took forever for me to figure out about the pause in the options menu. Now I know about the space bar option I will have to use it.
