I have completed all the levels..I cant see a difference in the cactus... Guess perhaps i didnt pay too much attention in the beginning. How do i get a master researcher? Everytime i get close they die...

Pcic, you asking about a master researcher or master healer? If you are talking about a master researcher that is not too difficult, just keep them at the table. They should get to a master level before they are 30. A healer on the other hand is a little more difficult, and becomes easier as the game goes on.
