So... I have this village with four farmers who only pick up 2 berries/carrots at a time, occasionally 5. They're adept farmers with 3/4 of their bars full and level two harvesting, in easy mode; and the nitwits can only carry one piece of food per hand?!!?

My other two villages are fine with 2-3 farmers, or even one at times; but not this village... FIVE farmers for ten people, and they keep nearly running out of food! Argh!!! 20,000 tech points until level 3 harvesting... *sigh*

I'm trying to understand... are they carrying tiny bowls? Bowls with holes in them? Are they eating the food on the way to the bin?? Sheesh! I swear most of my other villages' farmers bring in 6-8 every time!

Yeah, like I'm not completely addicted in spite of (or because of!) these kind of things... :-)

My scientist who randomly dances around the village center is fun; and the one who's afraid of berries is hysterical - he runs like he's on fire when you drop him on the berry bush...

Okay, love the behavioural comments but back to your food situation.

Just to clarify, is it just that it only looks like they are carrying 2 pieces of food? Are you watching your food storage number when they get to the bin? Is it only going up by two?

If you are truly bringing in more than two bits of food then it just sounds like you have a graphic glitch. otherwise, hmm, stumped! Never saw that one before!

Two pieces reflected in the food storage number, they carry normal looking baskets. (at first glance, lol.)

One of the four is now bringing in 4 pieces of food regularly, but the other three are still two-per-trip. Dropping them repeatedly on the bush & field of crops had no effect on their carrying ability. (except my own evil satisfaction, which was limited, lol.) Come to think of it - they had a hard time learning anything at first... maybe they're just mentally challenged? ;-) Can the inbreeding affect the next generation, intellectually?

Ah well... here's hoping the fishing is good! :-)

Uh, considering that we all only start with 7 villagers, I don't think we can avoid the inbreeding!!

Well, your problem is new to me completely. I didn't think there was anything to affect the amount of food they carry!

The number of berries per trip should start out fairly high (up to 10 per trip) and decrease as the berry bush is depleted. That is normal behavior for berry foraging. The farm should provide a constant quantity of food per trip as long as there are crops available.

Thanks, ladycfii - my berry bush *was* under 300 at the time. The bad farmers are up to 6 crops per trip now, but fishing has cured my famine. Yay!

I've had some stupid villagers on easy level, so I'm not risking the hard level any time soon, Sunnygirl. Dropping a villager five times on a new skill should really be enough to learn once, don't ya think?!!? *sigh*

I'm currently dealing with a baby boom in one village - 20 villagers, and 10 are kids!! A farmer I renamed Bam Bam snuck off and bred with 4 women within 1 minute of each other after I bred him with *one*, making 5 kids! I leave the room for five minutes, and I've got cooing women everywhere. (I know he was the culprit because the kids all have farmer skill, and Bam Bam was the only male with any breeding skill at the time.) Master Farmer, indeed! lol.

i just let one village, on easy, go and take care of them selves after the first round and they did great the kids came of age found a job they liked and all i had to do was incourage them to finish the puzzles ahhh i love that village called Comet Island 'cause they finished so fast (and after my cat) took 10 trys to get one of my females in this new one to forage she would try then wander off 'worried about food' oh well sooner or latter shes gonna learn or die

similar issues with my menfolk, one guy got all 12 of my gals nursing within 15 minutes and now i can't get the guys to do the work! lazy bums! i'm trying to get them to water the strange patch, hadn't done that yet in this village and all they want to do is fish. fellas, take a look at the food bin! ya'll could stop completely and still live for a loooong time on what's collected! been constantly droppin them in the field, every time the quit watering they go back to fishing! uuugghh!!!!! men!!!!

have to add though, after the one guy got to all the ladies he did head over and have a nice chat with them all and then went to do the laundry! i thought that was pretty decent of him!
