Sorry I'm new to this site, and so I haven't read through every post. I just started Virtual Villagers two days ago and finally got a village settled and working yesterday. I've got level 2 on all the tech things except for fertility, and finished a couple of the puzzles. Since food is ok (it averages around 1500?) and I have the hut and the school built, I started breeding little little peoples. But all of them seem to be little boys! Is there any way to breed a specific gender of child because I have 2 ladies right now and they're both in their 40's already! If they die how do i continue my little tribe?

there's no way to breed specific gender. you just have to cross your fingers and hope for a girl. your ladies aren't too old to breed, though. even if they're elderly, they can still get pregnant. keep trying!
