I would like to see a history of events, so if something happened when the Palm was off, you could review the events.

I am playing Virtual Village on my PC and would love to have a history of anything important that happened while the game was turned off.

I would like to know why a villager died. Old age? Sickness? I had one villager who was healthy and only 62 die while nursing... it happened while the game was off, so I wasn't completely sure.

I also had a villager nursing twins and my population count was 30 - when I turned the game on, she was back working and the population was still 30? There's too many kids running around to be sure if her twins were there too. I didn't get it.

Zia, you can see why your villagers died, but it's important that you follow certain steps in order to preserve that information. If you open your game and see that some villagers have died, you should quit the game and go look at the game log. It will allow you an interesting look at what has gone on in your game.

You can find the game log (ldwLog.txt) in the Virtual Villagers program directory, and it can be browsed with any text editor or word processing program. You must do this before launching the game again, since the data is overwritten each time you run Virtual Villagers. You can rename the file if you want to preserve it to look at later.

Wow, the log is actually fascinating. My villagers can't be very smart - they injure themselves so often while researching. (Also, I cannot even tell you how much it tickles me to read "Coke mated with Rum" and "Vermouth mated with Gin". I knew it would be a good idea to name my characters after drinks.)

Unrelated to the above, why do the villagers think they can improve the school after it's already been done? I'd love it if I could put the kids in the school and make them get some kind of skills. Are my villagers reading my mind?

The kids cannot enter the school (at least not at this time) and it does nothing for their skills. It's belived that the "wanting to convert building" is a little glitch that I hear will be fixed when the fine LDW team finds time. There's nothing more you can do with the building.

Yeah, but it's so much more fun to think my villagers can read my thoughts.

Well, the sad and kind of creepy sort of fun, at least.
