Yeah that one officially 'slipped through'. We'll fix it in any updates.

I'm sure the good people here at LDW spent countless hours developing this wonderful game. I hardly think that 1 displaced butt in a SCENTANCE has ruined it for anyone. Besides a "bug" in a game is something that affects how the game plays. If it had only given you 15 tech points, that would have officially been bug.

nothing wrong with pointing out an error, even if it doesn't affect the game. i know that if i had developed this game, i'd like to know about any errors or problems so that they can be fixed, no matter how minor they may be. any improvements that can be made just make the game even better.

You're right about the bugs, it's good to know what needs to be fixed. Am wondering about this one? Why is it that sometimes when you take a kid to a mushroom nothing happens? Is that a glitch or just an unfortunate part of the game? I mean, when the villagers are starving and the mushrooms are basically all that's left and you're furiously hunting them, it's pure joy to find one. But, alas, your kids can't seem to see it! AAARRGGHHHHHH!!!!

Also noticed that occasionally only part of the mushroom grows, so it looks like a little stone laying there on the ground. Just a helpful hint for those who are mushroom hunting, trying to get the next level of farming.

What version of the game are you playing? If you go to the menu screen, you can check the version. There was a problem with the mushrooms in v1.00 that has been fixed in v1.01. If you download the update, make sure that you get it from the same place that you purchased the game, or your registration code won't work.

I got the game from Big Fish games only a week ago, it's version 1.00, went to Big Fish but can't see anything about an updated version. Any suggestions?

Big Fish Games should have v1.01 now. I don't shop for games there, but I would imagine that you could download the demo, which should be v1.01, and install it. If you install it on the same computer, your game registration status should be preserved. If that doesn't work, you could contact their support people.

Just a note for Big Fish Gamers and to verify Barbara's suggestion.

On the big fish game site, there is no indication of an update however the current demo is version 1.01.

And yes, if you install it into the EXACT same folder, Big Fish will automatically register it and you will not loose your games.

Just tried it about three hours ago, went swimmingly. But with no indication of an update (and I am on the update list) it is confusing.

And my kiddies are picking mushrooms now!

Thanks SaxyT.

Wondering if you still had your villagers after redownloading from BigFish? I'd like to try, but don't want to start from the beginning again...I've grown to like the little guys!

If you download the trial version and install it (close the game first) then your current games will NOT be erased. As long as you install the new version in the same folder as the old one. You also will not have to reenter your registration code.

Furthermore, shouldn't it read "several of your villagers have BEEN taken ill..."?

This did not work for me. I downloaded the demo version from BFG and installed it in the exact same place. It asked for my registration key so I put in the one I had from here and BFG would not accept it. I lost my whole game because I had to uninstall everything. I guess I did something wrong!

Unfortunately, there are several threads that talk about how to get v1.01, and only some of them mention that you must download the update from the same site where you made your original purchase. Every game site uses their own registration code structure and the different versions are not interchangeable.

This thread was talking specifically about Big Fish Games, but LDW also has v1.01 available for those who purchased the game directly from us.

If you haven't deleted the Virtual Villagers folder, it's possible that your savegames are still there.

I'm playing version 1.01 - purchased and downloaded Friday night - and my kids never go after mushrooms on their own... aren't they supposed to be doing that in 1.01, or does it just fix their ability to see them when you drop them on one? (Yes - I'm looking for the easy way out, lol.)

Thanks in advance!

I'm already completely addicted - three villages going, and very little sleep thus far... :-)

No, you are sposed to hunt the mushrooms by using the kids. The kids are just there to help, and yes 1.01 fixed the bug where you could not make the kids pick the mushrooms.

I always open all cerate’s. Well unless I'm playing on the hard level and am just starting out. But that is just me.

I open the crates too, even if I can smell trouble. Gives me something to do to recruit a bunch of healers and spend a few minutes healing villagers.

I opened a crate this morning and 10 of my villagers died instantly including both my healers - what a nightmare! I'm afraid I won't be so bold in the future.

Just download the trial version there, even though it doesn't state which version.. and install to the same directory as your previous version
