Sorry, but this game is more boring than watching paint dry. It has potential & looks interesting, but that soon wears very thin. They have stretched what should be about an hours worth of gameplay to last for an eternity. For example, the villagers have been unblocking the creek for hours on end today & still it isn't unblocked. It took hours & hours just to clear the beach. Honestly, you'd get more interest out of watching snails walk up a wall. The game just sits there for hours with nothing at all happening, even on double speed. It takes hours and hours to get any tech points to make anything happen, then you get a brief spell of excitement. Even watching cricket is more interesting. Save your money folks, if you haven't bought it and buy something decent.

Im sorry but I think this game is great. It doesnt keep you "chained" to the computer for hours on end. You can actually do stuff that needs to get done like cleaning, laundry, cooking for your family, you know normal life stuff.
I respect your view on this game. However its the kind of game for me personally.

Well, to each their own I guess. This could be a problem I suppose if you are looking for some kind of instant gratification (which is common in the world today), but for me it give me more gratification knowing it took some hard work to get something done. If you want a game that you can “win” overnight and not take much work, then I suppose VV is not for you.

You need your villagers to bone up on their skills. Sure it takes a while but doesn't life go by slowly at times too? We are dealing with raising people from the age of birth up to 70ish years old. They need tender loving care - you need to be patient with them...

I do agree with the three above. For some of us, like "sammysmom" said, it's great having a game that you need to keep tabs on but allows us to go about our days.

With my career, I can't sit for hours trying to finish a game like Civlization for example (although I do love that game) so FT and VV are great for me. Check in on them, be patient, and enjoy the end after many hours.

And I've read in other posts that players young kids are really enjoying it too, and I can see that.

I'm with the majority of posters here -- although I will agree with the sentiment that playing the game is like watching paint dry...if you're bored, you can go do something else and the game will continue to play like the paint continues to dry. You're not supposed to sit and watch paint dry, and you don't need to sit and supervise your little villagers, either.

I like not having to sit in front of a game for hours to play -- I don't tend to have large chunks of free time. But I can micromanage for a few minutes here and there, and then come back to find results later (unlike nearly every other game out there, which requires constant attention -- playing Warcraft III or Myst IV in 10 minute chunks takes months...I haven't had time to finish either, nevermind the lot of other games I've never bothered to finish).

To each his own, but it seems a bit rude to me to log on to a game's forum to announce that no one should ever buy it because it doesn't suit your personal tastes.

IMHO.

No, you don't let them die, you let the thrive!

If you've trained them well they should, for the most part, take care of themselves. They'll keep farming, fixing huts, breeding, healing, burying the dead and of course everyone's favorite, laundry.

Just check in on them once in a while. Or start again, maybe on a harder level and see how you compare to your first game or try different strategies!
