Hi!

I have a little problem with my villagers and breeding.
It was complicated the first time, it took five attemps to make a baby, and another four to make the second.

Now, I don't want more babies until I achieve the 3rt level of farming, but the girl is impregnated again, and it only took the boy to be near her!

I can control them when I'm playing, but can I do when I'm away? I want to let the game run all day, but I don't want more unexpected villagers.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Probably the best way to keep them from breeding is to ensure that none of your villagers skill level is set to breeding. If they are focusing on another task they likely won't breed. However, it does partly depend on their personalities and that you can't control. Try as I might, I had one game that just kept breeding like rabbits and I couldn't stop it. Kinda funny actually!

i have one game going where i made a guy into a master parent. later i set his skill to building, and he still ended up impregnating every woman in the village while i was asleep. i woke up to nine women holding babies in the middle of the village. i have to watch that one carefully.

sometimes the villagers like to get away from their "real job" (the checked skill) and practice whatever skill they are best at...in one of my current games, my only builder likes to wander off and do research on occasion (he's a master scientist but only an adept builder).

Best not to let the boys learn to breed unless you want lots of kids, I think

I have noticed that when a villager is skilled in multiple areas they tend to focus on the area they have the most skill in, no matter what you set their focus to. If he has more knowledge in breeding than building, he'll probably build for a little while then go back to breeding whether you like or not.

Good thing for the ladies though!

It will also depend on their level of competency in the details screen - if there level is high for breeding even though they are not in the breeding job, they will still breed anyway with or without your intervention. My first game I was at 92 villagers - was a 89, when one had tripplets.

I had a villager who was breeding capable but it was checked on friday. I was unable to watch the game over the weekend and it was on 2x for 2 days. On friday i had 40 villagers, come today i had 88. It doesnt take long once things are rolling and a skilled villager knows what to do.

I had so many kids at once that I started to run out of food. I've got all but 1 of my adults farming and am waiting for those kids to grow up and pull their own weight.
BTW, what's with the child labor laws? They're on a deserted island. An 8 year old could forage if his life depended on it.

True that! That has been discussed, but not sure if that will ever be changed. LDW did make a concession with the mushrooms. Only the kiddies can pick'em.

Hey, you know what would be nice? If those kids would find the mushrooms on their own. Whenever I spot them it's too late to pick them.

I keep forgetting to look for the mushrooms! ANd I've never seen the red ones that were mentioned somewhere else on this post.

I have an awful mushroom rating on all my games.

Well there are a lot of mushroom hunters out there. I've found 583 of them and am only ranked 79.

I just checked my stats on my original game.... it's sad, so sad.... 18 mushrooms, ranked 603.

I guess i need to work on that!

One of my girls is 61 and right now nursing, there's a deadline to breeding?

No deadline for breeding. They can breed all the way to the their death bed (or is that death dirt? )
