Okay, I've got to be doing something wrong. I am so bored with this game. I've got seven villagers, one kid and one baby. I've had them look at everything multiple times, so I'm pretty sure they've learned all the can. I've completed The Well and Herb Mastery puzzles. After 24 hours I finally got enought tech points to buy something, so I went with the cheapest thing -- construction -- thinking if I had another building I can have more babies which would mean more people working at the tech table. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do next? This is going nowhere fast. Thanks!!!

Well, for starters, getting enough tech points to purchase level 2 of Harvesting will provide the food that your villagers are going to need. The berry bush is going to run out of berries, and they won't have anything to eat if you don't help them get another food source.

The games could take days or weeks to finish. You just have to be patient. Most of the puzzles cannot be completed until other tech levels are reached so you have to get your villagers working on research.

Also, by the sounds of it, if you don't get level 2 farming soon, you're villagers may run out of food so you may want to focus on buying that tech next.

I wouldn't get more babies until you get the farming as more villagers will consume food faster and therefore starve faster.

There are still many puzzles you can complete with the tech levels you have right now, most of them all builder related but not all. You are correct that more babies will eventually give you more researchers but really, get the food first.

Also, check what game speed you're playing on, if you have it on 2x, it will go faster for you.

All in all, the game just requires planning and patience. That's the beauty of the game. You can't finish it in a day, it takes time.

Hope that helps you move a little further but if you're still stumped or don't want to wait, there is a spoiler section in the LDW forum which will give you all the answers (not as much fun though).

Take Care, Good luck.

Thanks for the help! I restarted the game so I can spend my tech points on harvesting first. I wish there was a x5 or even x10 just to get the game going.

Just wait jampony, before you know it, you'll have things sitting on the back burning because there's so much to do.

Things really pick up once you start getting higher tech levels so just keep those little cuties researching and you'll get there.

I think I'm going to run out of berries before I get enough points to get to level 2 of harvesting (there was a typhoon or something)! But that's okay. I'll just restart again. At least now I know it's not the kind of game that can be played in a couple of hours -- I just need more patience.

Don't immediately restart. Your villagers can last a long time without food, although they will weaken after a while. I've had some close calls with island events where I think I won't get harvesting before they starve and it works out... just let them keep plugging away and you'll probably be fine (they'll eat like crazy for a while after though).

If you're a touch bored with the early stages of the game, you can always start some other players -- I find that if I have two or three villages going at once under different players, then the game is more fun...it takes up a little more time to check out everyone, but I can test out new strategies and compare how each village progresses.

Hee hee, yeah, I'm kind of wishing I worked at home. Rushing through my clients all day to get home, hug my kitten (always a priority) and then check on my villagers and my fish.

Darn addictive these games are but brilliant!

You definately have to decide which techologies to spend at first, but survival is the most important - definately need food and shelter first, then the rest will start to fall into place and you'll be glad it started out slow so that you can get used to gradually getting more activities in play.

I agree with SCTNE completely. Once things start really rolling you'll be happy that you eased into it. You'll get to point in the game where you have more to do than villagers to do it (or want to cooperate in doing it).

BTW, SCTNE, welcome fellow Canadian, and Ontarian at that! First other Canadian poster I've seen on this site!

It took me about 5 days to finish the first one. Without this forum, I'm sure I'd still be struggling through, but I'm still not bored. I have 3 villages going now, and they are all different. (Actually, I have 1 village and each of my dog's has a village)

I do that, too! I play one game, Mysti (her picture is there on the left) plays another, and my kids's dogs, Kodi and Tobie play, too. Mysti usually plays better games than I do!

Um, I don't have that much to choose from. I have me, one for my cat "Jingle", uh... one after my favorite stuffed animal as a kid "Sparky", one called "Dorito" (it was late at night when I started it and was munching) and one called "Harry Potter" purely becuase I looked up and saw the books on my shelf.

Gee, should I have just admmited that? Kind of pathetic isn't it...

I agree...there's no need to immediately restart. Also, there is something the children can do to help with the food supply...it saved one of my villages from the brink of starvation (: I won't reveal what it is here in the forum to avoid providing a spoiler, but you can PM me for a hint if you like. Additionally, that feature with the children can make the lulls during the game a bit more fun and interesting.

Cheers!

Greetings SaxyT, from Toronto. Yep - fellow Canadians who love this game - too bad we couldn't play head to head, although we both need a week off of work to do that! He he...

Nice thought SCTNE but we're work horses up here in the north aren't we. Even if we were offered the chance, we'd keep working, admit it.

I'm from Niagara by the way, (just south across the lake in case you didn't know), not far from you at all.

Okay, now that I've been playing for a week, I see what you all mean. But I can't believe some people finish this game in three days. That's impressive. It takes me forever to gain tech points to get new levels of technology.

Oh, btw, a mist saved my villagers from starvation and I knew about having the kids help, but I'm having trouble with that (being vague on purpose so there won't be any spoilers). It only works about half the time. I've read other posts about that so I don't think it's just me.

Anyway, here's my question for today... how do you start new players to play multiple games? It doesn't ask me for a user name when I start; it just goes right into my game.

Thanks!

In the Upper Right of the Menu Screen is Change Player. Click on that and it should be self explainitory from there....

Jampony, you remark about having difficulties with the kids helping, check which version you are playing on the main screen. If it says 1.00 you are behind an update that fixes that vague problem.

Check out the site you purchased the game from to get the update. If you do have 1.01 already then, well, stumped me.

Rifster... OMG! I never noticed that before. I'll have to try playing two games at one time and see if I go insane or not.

SaxyT... I just upgraded last night. Works perfectly now.

Thanks, both of you!

Ah! Yes! Thank you :3 I was wondering how to have more than one game at once too. I'm mostly saying thank you because I think this should be near the top so other curious people can just click and find out... but also cause I want to play 7 games at once too :x Weee!

Woke up hubby when I started a new game under another user. None of my villagers would "learn" how to pick berries, I kept picking them up and throwing them at the bush

"What's so hard about picking berries. Pull the dang things off the branch and put them in the basket you dimwitted nimrods!!!"

No you won't lose your games once you install the program to the same directory.
