Ever get one that just WON'T work? I have one who was born with a bonus in Building, I trained him under a Master Builder, and now he's "Adept"... but I can NOT get him to build! I literally have to spy on him and every time he runs off, put him back. In about 45 mins I've gotten 3% of my new hut done. grrrr. All he wants to do is dance, dance, dance!

I had a female that didn't want to do anything but wonder around and "worry about food"

my builder now actually runs away if I put him at the hut he's building! LOL what a waste of turnips and berries.

Too bad you can't take them out back and drown them like I do on another game I play...

Did you ever check what your builder's dislikes are? What if he doesn't like wood or rocks or lifting? Maybe you should rethink his profession?

Only thing is he likes dancing... he dislikes nothing... except building, it seems!

Maybe he likes dancing w-a-a-a-y too much? That's one of the things I like about the game - the villagers have such different personalities.

Funny... I had two men working on it, both builders, and it seemed the lazy one was corrupting the better (but less trained) one. Now I've added a hot 17-year-old blonde to the task, they're all happily hard at work. LOLOL

My blone is suppossed to be a farmer and my bald dude is a builder but when I'm not looking they switch!

ps I've switched everyone but my builders to "breeders" and nobody's breeding, but they're all making all these laundry trips! LOL it's like they want to smell good and look nice for their "dates".

the only problem with actually checking breeding is they will almost never do anything else, and if you limit is maxed or they cant breed, they just wander aimlessly, doing laundry, admiring things and nothing gets done

It seems there is one in every game, lol. I had a scientist in one game that only wanted to push the boulder....24/7. I had to keep putting her back to work and babysit her the whole time.
Another game, it was the builder. Another the farmer.
I have been letting them try everything once, see how much they gain on the bars and whichever gains the most, that is what I let them do. (if i don't notice one gained more than the others, then I let them do something fun or non work related, like push the boulder or swim if far enough along, then see where they go on their own. Noticed they work better if THEY choose what they do. If I see someone likes rough wood but they won't build, I stick them on beach clean up and they whip it clean quickly, lol.

It does seem like the villagers "know" what needs to be done, and they don't get serious about it until there's something pressing.

I have a game going where the population was recently at 13, so the builders got busy on the second hut -- then a couple of the older folks passed on, and now the builders think that hut is a complete waste of time .

Kinda like watching the crops in the field sit unharvested because the bin is overflowing and the farmers would rather check out the cactus or the boulder!

I love it when the villagers Do Nothing when I am not baby-sitting them! I log out and I think they all go on vacation - they can be starving to death with a full field and berry bush! Duh....

One of my villagers likes plants and dislikes turnips. What should I do?...

I am stalled now, have maximum village count of 90, purchased all available upgrades and now my peoples only wander. I can't solve the last 6 puzzles. oh and where did the butterflies go, they have vanished completely now.

I say if she likes plants and dislikes turnips, set her as a doctor so she can hang around all the nice plants all day and never have to see a turnip.

It sort of creeps me out to start up the game and find that several elders have died and their corpses have been hanging out in the middle of town for who knows how long. And then EVERYONE has to come join the funeral procession.

I just started my first "hard" game ever and two of my founding villagers actually list "work" as one of their dislikes. What are they odds! I can't get these two guys to do anything!!! Maybe once I have more techs and room they may enjoy breeding more but I need these guys to work right now! Argh... well, serves me right for trying to play a hard game I guess!

I have a couple of games going and I notice that I have one girl in each that won't work and both are wearing the purple Stevie Nicks dress with the matching purple armbands (OMG, did I just say that?).
I find myself yelling at my computer, "You will FORAGE, you witch!"

I would try him under a different profession. Sometimes they don't like to do certain things. You want to check out their details, or see if they happen to be interested in something else rather going to the center of the village, then take them to the spots they are interested in and they will grow in that job.

Neither one has any interests or "likes" listed at all, one just dislikes "work", the other dislikes "work, wood, ocean" so he's pretty limited on things to do. They're just lazy....

I forgetfully left the game on 2x all night long though so both are soon approaching dying of old age and the next generation should be better.

i have a hard game going where none of the villagers will do any kind of farming without me watching them. i check in on them and they're doing anything but farming. they've got 800 crops in the field and they're about to starve to death because they're just stupid.

i had another game where nobody wanted to farm, and i woke up this morning to find all of them dead from starvation. you'd think they'd be smart enough to start farming when food gets low.

lol, I think that's why this post is titled "Useless Village Idiots".

Just the quirks of the game and the personalities. Gotta love those little crazy villagers.

Especially the hyperactive ones that run everywhere so fast their little bare feet are just a blur... great workers, sad when they die....

I had one, I changed her name to "V. Idiot" and just let her roam around. She was hopeless, couldn't do anything, good thing they don't have a TV or I'm sure that where that lazy little thing would have been.

I'm starting to get a complex.

I have another girl in a purple dress who won't work. Is anyone else's employment challenged person wearing a purple dress? This is three so far.

Actually, so far it's been only male villagers that won't work, go figure.

Except my farmers, my farmers need teaching once and they never, ever, stop, in any game, except to eat or drink from the well.

I've got an idiot that won't eat. His status is "weakened" and he got that way because I accidently left the game on double speed overnight before I had gotten the second food tech, so they ran out of berries and nearly all starved, but now there's plenty of food and the moron's still on "weakened." I have to drop him on the food to get him to eat. Everyone else returned to healthy. Talk about idiodic.

That will just take some time. Forcing him to eat will not necessarily heal him right away. So just leave him be, and he will go back to full strength. That is if he is not too old.

I watched him through three sitcoms on double speed and he never did eat. He's only 36, but he just won't get any better. If I drag him to the food bin his health improves dramatically, for about three minutes. What's wrong with him?

Although you can still see them take breaks from time to time to eat but you are usually Safe to crack the whip and put them back to work.

He died overnight My medicine level was 2 at the time and I had a master doctor. My population was something like 15. He never did get sick. I thought maybe he was having on the job injuries and moved him around to several different jobs, but nothing worked. Oh well.

on my first file i strted bout 1 hr b4 i went 2 bed, so they all died. now on my new one they are going well. i have one girl who dislikes breeding. so i kept chucking her in the lagoon as she doesnt like swimming. she sulked for a few hours
