Hi everyone!

Village Sim will be entering beta soon, hopefully within a couple weeks. We are aiming for a late March release date on the Palm platform.

The game will require OS 5.0 and about 3.7 megs of available RAM on your device, and a bit more if you want to install all of the music files.

We'll post some new screenshots here as we progress through alpha into beta phase.

Arthur

Wow! It looks like Raynne and I were both right - it's a sim AND an adventure! YAY! I love the new teaser, Arthur!

Hi Arthur,

Will it be Hi-Res only, or will it support the Palm OS 5.0 orphan the Zire 31? Well it's not exactly an orphan, but it feels like one sometimes.

It should be fine on any 5.0 device. I'm looking forward to hearing how it runs on the Zire 31.

Hi!
We can still have a couple more testers. It depends also on what device you own as we are trying to cover different types of devices and not have too many testers with the same Palm OS!
What you should do is fill our online support form with the following information:
-your Name and Email
-your Device (Name and Series)
-previous testing information (if any)

Please note that you need to be over 18 and be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

If we are able to admit you in the beta test we will contact you with the details.

Raynne we still do our games first on Palm for the time being because Palm is the trickier platform to keep happy. It has a lot of technical hoops that we have to jump through.

We write our games with PPC in mind from the very start now, so bringing it over should be quick and easy.

I filled out the form to become a tester but I have had no answer yet, how long does it normally take to get an answer.

It can take a while - They're running a small (but amazing! ) company, and Carla has to read and answer every one of the emails from the support form, including support email as well as the beta applications. Don't worry, you'll get an answer. Just be patient They're extremely busy right now O.o

Note, also, that Carla said, "If we are able to admit you in the beta test we will contact you with the details." Depending upon how many people have submitted forms, they may choose to contact only those people that will be participating in the beta. I guess it depends on how busy they are and how many people have applied.

Arthur,

I'm looking forward to seeing how it works on the 31 also. It seems because it's the only, (or one of the very few) OS 5.0 Palms that only have 160x160 support it's in a twilight zone where some apps from both the OS 4.0 and OS 5.0 camps don't work. I ran into that with a pinball program and that companies response was "tough luck" :*(

Raynne,

This is simple to fix. Just get a Palm Zire 31, so you can have one of each. Sort of like the old Doublemint commercial, double your fun.

Trust me, I've thought of it. But I've already spent so much on my PPC and Accessories that I would probably bankrupt myself if I had both a Palm and a PPC.

I know the feeling. I've been lucky. All my PDAs have been gifts so I've only had to pay for software. The only accessories I use is a case and memory card. The Zire 31 ain't a bad palm. It's worst fault is being lo-res in a high-res world, but for $150 or less you can be forgiving towards it.

I own both Palm and Pocket PC. I've now got an Ipaq 2750 and a Tungsten T5. They've recently been joined by the UK bargain of the week - a Zodiac 2 which was only £150! I'm happy to test in portrait or landscape!

All PC World and Dixons stores. Check it out soon though. The local one here in Hanley had 4 but I bought one and the other 3 went to people in the office here!

Additional Zodiac news in the UK - the Zodiac 1 is available online from Dixons and PC World for just £99.99 - that makes it cheaper than a Zire 31!!! Seems to be out of stock right now, but given the low pricing that's hardly surprising.

Good grief.

Can I justify it considering the Nintendo DS...?

So is the PPC beta over as well? Or is this release just for Palm?

Hi, Raynne! This release is just for Palm OS - the PPC beta is still in the future!

Once the basics of village life are established there are things about this new island home that need to be investigated. A large glistening rock stands in the north west corner of the village and there are ruins of a previous civilization in the south east. Strange medicinal plants are scattered around the northern border and large, heavy, difficult to move boulders seem to be blocking secret areas. Will the villagers need to cooperate in their efforts to find out what is behind the stone behemoths or will a scientist need to come up with the solution? Will these new island inhabitants ever figure out that the reason they can't get anything in the field to grow, no matter how much water they use, is that the children use it as bathroom? I haven't yet found the answers to any of these puzzles and I've got my work cut out for me as there seem to be no fewer than twelve mysteries to uncover in this new land.
this person was Lianne Reitter and if you read this does it sound like it needs a upgrade i dont think so you should release village sim like it is there are already so many addicted people just waiting for a pc version
