My computer has to go into the repair shop soon to get a dead fan and a wacko battery/plug fixed. How do I fix things so that I won't lose my Virtual Villagers game? I am running it on an Windows XP laptop.

Pause any game(s) that you have running in the various player slots. Exit the game. Go to the directory where Virtual Villagers is installed (the default is \Program Files\Virtual Villagers) and look for the files Isola*.ldw (where * is any number from 1 to 5). Those are the savegame files. You can copy them to some sort of external media for safekeeping until you have your computer back. That way, if something DOES go wrong while your computer is being repaired, you can restore your savegame files and continue from where you left off.

Thank you, Barbara.

You would simply copy those same files back to the same directory that they came from (reinstalling Virtual Villagers first if something REALLY bad happened while your computer was away)!

When you launch Virtual Villagers again after the repair, all your games should still be paused, waiting for you to resume play.

You should find it in the Program Files directory.

Thanks, Barb.

It's only a battery replacement and fan repair, shouldn't wreck my computer but, you know computer service! They're wacko!

(No offense to LDW's programmers)
