Right, I have a population of 7, the berry bush is depleted and I need another 2000 tech points to advance them to fishing. What am I doing wrong? Here's how I started: -

The first thing I did was to train up a builder and have him remove the log from the well. I then set him to work building a hut. At the same time, I had another villager begin to forage berries from the bush. I managed to get them to 2500 TPs by doing everything I possibly could (i.e. having someone look at all the plants to learn about them, trained a scientist (who now has a 'masters degree') set up a school removed the debris from the beach and the rocks from the waterfall to create the pool (I've just seen one of them doing laundry; they may be starving to death, but at least they'll do it in clean underpants! Remember what your Granny always used to tell you...? ) Anyway, I couldn't do the latter until I'd upgraded building to level 2. I just cannot see how it's possible to acquire the 6000 TPs required to upgrade farming to level 2.

Could someone help me out here (tell me how you did it)? I think I can continue once they have a steady supply of food.

Cheers

Claire

P.S. I received a free upgrade to Level 2 medicine via a 'chance card', IYSWIM. Something about a botanist wanting to take plant samples or something.

I'm kinda new too but you should prolly put everyone at the research table... that's the only way to get TPs I think.

Bit late now - they're too hungry to do anything! Looks like I'm gonna have to start over...

But, no, it's not the only way. TPs are awarded when they learn, too...

Try this...when its time to harvest...make everyone a farmer..watch them and as soon as they finish dropping the food in the bin..drag them back to the patch for more.
the patch can produce 800 per harvest..but your people will not get all of it by their selves. I managed to get around 775 per harvest if I helped them out... Plus your compensating for your older villagers. Just don't touch them till after they deliver the food. Good Luck!
I haven't found that it makes harvest faster or bigger to put alot of people on it...I kept 5 farmers watering and the rest all researchers...

Tech points are only awarded at the research table. They will gain experience points by doing their jobs (farming, research, building, breeding).

So, yes put them on the table until you can get farming level two.

I was able to get to level 2 farming, but only by not doing anything else first -- I had my builder clear the well and build the first hut, but then put that villager on research when that was all done. And when the "farmers" depleted the berry bush, I put them all on the research table, too. And I bought farming first thing, ignoring the construction bit.

And make sure to "check" the research skill in the detail screen -- otherwise they'll wander off and do other jobs when you aren't looking!

I didn't manage to get anyone to a "masters degree" though, wow .

They will research when starving -- at least mine will -- but they won't if they're sick.
