I had a village with just one girl and she was a child. I had to wait til she got old enough to breed and then I set her to Breeding as her "tech".
I don't really want to think about the "inner-breeding" issue that will follow! LOL

I had the opposite. My first six babies were all girls! I was worried they would go extinct with no new daddies.

I'm a newbie here, but it's my experience that school is just there; no point really. You can't do anything to affect it.

When my villagers started making babies, the first four babies were boys! Then I got a girl. Then an 'event' happened that gave me two more boys and a girl. It seems that in my game, at least, the Y chromosome is way stronger than the X chromosome!

It's o.k. now my villagers found three giggling infants, one girl and then for some reason they started having some girls. One of the boys they found is sooo hyper and the other one costantly wants to try everything.

It could happen anytime. The Island Events are random, however, and a particular event may not happen at all in a given game.

My first game ever (which is still going) I started the day BFG had the advanced sale. After days of playing, solving all the puzzles, maxing my poplulation, I have not had one island event yet so yeah, you can have a game without any events!

Technically your supposed to have 2 Events 1 at 15 Mins and another at 45 mins. so Technically no You can't have a game with 0 Events.

Yes, you are right, sorry, those two events seemed to happen in every game I started, however, my stats still say island events seen "zero" so maybe those two standard ones don't register as events. Or maybe it's a bug. If I knew how to do screen shots, I'd show you what I mean.

Have you changed the system clock on your computer during the course of this game?

Nope not at all, no clock change. Admittedly, my first game I did, just to check things out faster but now I have three games on the go and haven't changed the clock at all. Besides, last time I did that in my first game, without thinking, I found all my Fish Tycoon fish had starved to death. Kind of forgot that game would be affected too. I haven't changed it since.
Besides, my other two games I've had many island events in each, and all three games were started at the same time.

Well, the Island Events *are* random, and the first two are the only ones whose timing is predictable.

Sorta, maybe. The baby will usually disappear if the villager is sick. You should check her health and see if she is sick.

Is your game paused? Have you messed with your system clock? Did you have a special even whereby that mother eat something?

Ok, well you must had had it on pause some time then. When you take it off pause, it will take a little while to reset itself.
