Will there ever be an FAQ for basic gameplay? Just the kind of stuff that used to be included in instruction manuals back in the day.
I'd like to know how to get the gold tools, does capturing caterpillars keep you from having butterflies, does capturing butterflies (and bees and ladybugs) keep you from getting hybrids, and does the white label fertilizer make white label plants more fertile so that you get hybrids or is it merely an all-purpose fertilizer for red and blue plants?
Is there any plan for an FAQ, or any casual game site that has one?
Part of the fun for me is knowing the cause and effect of everything. I hate that even when I think I know, I'm still just basically guessing.

There is an FAQ, but I can't find the link to it. I remember that it wasn't in the color scheme of the Forums, so it might be on the main LDW page? I can't find it, in any case.

Some of the things you're asking are part of the basic challenge of the game, i.e. gameplay. Experiment with plucking ladybugs vs. leaving them, for instance. Sometimes it's hard to tell the cause and effect relationship when the developers are busy bringing out updates with new features and fixes. I don't want to know everything about the game before I play it, myself. Then it's more like retyping a novel that I read than actually discovering anything and having that thrill.

Here you go! Note this is a basic help FAQ that helps you get a handle on the game, but does not reveal things like how to unlock golden tools, or specific plant breeding rules, etc. We like to keep those as mysteries for players to discover as game play continues.

I understand the mystery part, but now it's just getting frustrating.

Unfortunately, we are a very small team, and we have to make a choice between creating game guides and adding new things to the game. We've chosen to continue to improve Virtual Town and make it more fun, leaving the mystery and discovery to our fans. The best game guides have come from our community, anyway, so we have chosen to leave room for fan-created guides. We'd be more than happy to create a VT Guides section to hold any game guides or FAQs that you all create.

Thanks, I usually go to jayisgames for LDW game guides, but for some reason they haven't covered VT yet. Maybe they don't do android games, or maybe it's too new. They got me through all the virtual villagers games!
The lack of walkthroughs on the internet is frustrating, I've never had a game I couldn't google and find a walkthrough before. More people need to know about this game! They're missing a great game and I'm missing the inevitable hints and charts and walkthroughs.
I just realized I need to give it five stars on googleplay. I've been lazy and remiss. The more it gets out there, the more fan support.
If worse comes to worst, I'll start making charts of hybrids and try to make one myself.
I'm not big on mysteries. I always read the end first. My favorite part is the grinding. (Catching bugs, farming, etc)

One problem with creating FAQs for VT is that the game is regularly updated, both with bug fixes and other changes. Reading through some of the older posts here and in the group on Facebook shows that tips given then are now out of date.

That's a good point. I like the idea of a "living" game that evolves over time. I'd like to see fish collections someday!
But I'd kill for a flower/hybrid chart and details on fertilizer!

If you haven't found out yet, you get the gold tools by using the others. Once you get enough experience the gold one show up in the store. I still need the gold watering can and pick ax to have the whole gold set.
