How do I get someones happiness up when spouse has died? Does watching tv and read the newspaper help?

I've really only found that time is the answer. You might try giving your peep a few treats such as fresh fruit or candy. If you can, you could also try buying a house or career upgrade, or getting some new furniture or accessories. Those things do give a small temporary boost in a peep's happiness level and might help.
