For the record, one of my great-great-great grandmothers was married at 14 and having babies soon thereafter. One of her cousins was married at 12. Note: they didn't live in a lovely tropical paradise, but they were isolated and didn't have much else to do except farm and raise big families to run the farm and beat the odds in a time of high infant mortality. All I'm saying is that it's not unusual in real life, even if it's very unusual in the present time.

At my own 10-year high school reunion, the couple who won the award for the longest marriage had been married 13 years.
