Hi everybody,

since I didn't find anything in the forum telling about this I thought I would start a new thread.

So here is what happened today in my village: my two adept doctors started to study the plants in the village on their own again! They didn't do this before and as I've read here, it seems to be usual for them to stop after reaching the adept level.
I will describe the situation and maybe someone has experienced something similar.
When I started the game today, my first village in VV2, I found out that level 2 at farming is not really sufficient for sustaining 15 villagers.
The food supplies were almost spent and I made nearly all of my people work at the research table to be able to reach level three at farming.
When I checked back later food supplies were totally spent and I used the next two mushrooms I found to let the older one of my two doctors cook a stew that restores everyone completely, because the next crops would be ready in more than an hour.
After that somehow he started to go to the plants and study them on his own again! I watched him and he still wandered from one plant to another building up skill. I dragged his daughter away from the research table - my second healer - and she did the same and still does.
So what happened? I thought adept healers wouldn't do that anymore. Was it the stew? Or the low food supplies? I should mention that I have level two at all six categories at the moment.

I thought I would share this experience. Maybe someone has an idea why this works suddenly when it didn't before.

And I apologize, if my English is not at best. It is not my native language. \:\)

Greetings

PS: My villagers all made it through crisis by the way. \:\)

I think it's caused by the low food. I accidentally left my second tribe on 2x speed overnight so when I woke up, I found they had 0 food with a number of villagers' health being lowered. I had just 2 kids still 13 years old so I managed to make 1 healing stew before they turned 14.

But then they turned 14 so I had no children left, 0 food, and not enough tech points to get rid of the algae. The next crops weren't going to be ready for a couple of hours and there were 0 coconuts left. Very dire. The only thing that could save them was to build up the tech points.

So I put every villager on research. To my surprise, each and every villager worked constantly on research. Not a single one wondered off for any reason. They didn't try to eat or go to the pond or cool their feet or do another skill; nothing. Just research. This is the only time I have ever seen 23 villagers stick to one skill for a long time without ever wondering off. The only thing I could contribute this to was the dire situation with 0 food left.

They finally made it far enough for me to buy the 3rd level of farming. I then changed them all to farming and made them get the algae fish. Some villagers who had 0 experience with farming had a little trouble, but for the most part, the villagers again were very dedicated to their job without wondering off.

However, once the crises was over and there was plenty of food again, the villagers began wondering off again.

My only conclusion is that they become very dedicated to their jobs when they're about to starve.

Yes, You were right about the low food. As soon as they had enough to eat again they started to get lazy again. My next tribe will have to get along with coconuts... ;\)

You have to train them at 14 to get them to do it on their own. But soon after that, they will stop. However, they do somehow increase their doctor skill as many of my esteemed elders (or equivalent after the first 50) end up as Master Doctors by accident.

Hmm...maybe I should run down the food supply :P I have a 40-something who should have made master healer by now! She was a apprentice healer at the age of 4 with the bar at 40-50 percent! But no...she just won't study those plants...

for those of you whom did get Master Doctors/Healers did you have to sit there constantly and put them on plants. I have a good established little village and they just won't study plants and people don't get sick enough. I finally resorted to a cheat engine and deleted all but 80 of my food and placed everyone on building and research. then yes the two healers did go study plants. I left them 6 hours and neither moved up even a tiny scratch. Very frustrating as I'd like to build my healers into esteemed elders as neither like building (one dislikes work and the other dislikes rocks). LOL I could try for parenting but then my village will go too fast if that is their only job
