When you adopt a child, do you choose a child or does a child suddenly come to your house?

A child is added to your family, with no opportunity to choose age, sex, appearance, or anything else.

Whammo, you have a kid in your family! laugh

It's happens just like the adoption event that sometimes occurs in the game. A randomized child will appear at the front of the house and come running in.

I personally would love for us to be able to choose since that's a little more realistic, but I can understand why it's randomized.

Personally so its like a real adoption, it be nice if they showed children available for adoption, and like the sale page would refresh so often to have different choices.... say you have five boys and looking for that one girl, or vica versa..
Like the small screen you see, when your setting up for new generation, there would be at least 6 children you could look at up for adoption..Its more realistic adoption, I believe..

I AGREE TOO! Plus it's SO expensive! Maybe make it $1500 or something, NOT $4000!

My life is 5 little boys. I have never really adopted, since im on first generation, but I was kind of hoping you could pick the gender. But I guess Its cheaper to hope for a girl.

Me neither, never ever had that happen to me. I only had 1 adoption, her name was Ella, and she showed up at NIGHT, Well, thank goodness for a girl, two boy twins aren't very easy. laugh

I have no clue MissKathy... it was very interesting tho... keeping up with 6 little girls and a boy not too much older than them and the parents were in their early 50's...

You certainly had something unique there ChristiDee! Each generation is supposed to be limited to a total of 6 children. Do you remember if each child had a Details screen where you could see their "likes" etc? Were all 8 children available to choose from to start the next generation or only the first 6? Does your Family Tree show 8 children or just the first 6? Did the game charge you 24,000 coins for 6 children? smile

I was only charged how much ever the person said i had to pay that came to my door... but it was just for one child... they all had diff names, likes, dislikes, appearances, and all... i think i can only see 6 on the tree now but when i was choosing for new generation i had a choice between all 8 kids... cause i counted to see if all was there... lol

I only see the 2 boys i had and 4 of the adopted girls on the family tree...

Out of curiosity, did you already have the twins/triplets award? If not, did you get it because all of those kids were adopted at once?

I also wondered if you ever got twins or triplets if you adopted?

I had a family that tried and tried to have a baby - no luck - so I adopted a couple of kids so the family would countinue!

I also had a single father that just couldn't find a good wife LOL - I had him adopt as well - only single kids never multi's!

One quibble I have with the adoption process is that the child just turns up without fuss. There's no celebration by the other peeps. They just ignore them. It's as if the adopted kid has been there all the time.

yeah, i really love that idea, i mean like, we can adopt adults with choice, why not children?

But also, if you would pick the adoption (in the special upgrades) then you can choose, but imagine in real life if you had an orphan knocking on your door, would you have a choice of who to get?

My little family started out with one child, and when the child was three they tried to have another, but kept arguing, so no baby.

But they now have three adopted daughters. All three girls showed up at the door at different times Never a boy though. So now my family has four daughters.
