Someone asked if buying the game without running a trial first will work to get around this issue, and it will, at least for me it did.

Issue fixed, it was in full screen mode and I couldn't see the start button. I have an older computer also and it's working fine.
I have my Display settings to 1152x864 in order to see the whole screen.

Then I went back to the game - once I am actually playing, I go to menu - settings, and I clicked full screen, now it's normal!!

Glad it worked for you. But the problem is with the free trail. So there is no activation code.
