Yesterday the "On Sale" items became empty and I had only purchased one item out of it prior to this happening. This morning it is still empty. Is it designed for items to go away before the next update to Sale Items?

Sorry for not getting back with you earlier, Boet! blush

We generally see this happen when either the game has been paused for significant amounts of time, or the device's clock has been altered (accidentally or intentionally).

The best way to prevent these types of problems is to make sure that you completely close the game from the multi-task bar prior to travel or DST adjustments, and leave it closed for the number of hours involved in the time adjustment. To close your game completely, follow the instructions in this Apple knowledge base article:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137

Our real-time games rely on the accuracy of the computer's system clock to operate properly. Unpredictable results can occur if adjustments are made to the clock, especially moving the clock backwards in time. Different games will respond differently under those circumstances, ranging from minor statistics anomalies to killing whatever is living in the game. Virtual Families 2:Our Dream House has a much more complex real-time engine than some of our other games, and you're much more likely to see problems with it when adjusting the system clock.

Sometimes people do adjust their system clocks intentionally to speed up play, but we don't advise doing that, since it affects far more than just the games. Every application and system function will be affected by such time changes, including the file system and other system applications. For all of those reasons, we do not recommend changing your device's clock to speed up game play.

The adverse effects on Virtual Families 2: Our Dream House after adjusting the clock may include:

- One or more family members no longer get older
- Advancing to new generations may not be possible
- Nursing moms will not wean their babies
- Food supply and bank account may become unreliable
- Marriage proposals and other emails stop arriving
- The random events will not occur
- The store will stop updating the flea market and sale items
- The maid and gardener may stop coming to the house

There are a couple of ways to resolve the problem:

1) If you have invested a lot of time playing the game or have spent real money on In-App Purchases, you should wait for some period of time to see if the game recovers on its own. This will usually happen when the actual time on your device "catches up" with the furthest date/time that occurred due to clock adjustments. Unfortunately, we can't predict how long you may have to wait, since it will depend upon how far into the future the clock was adjusted. Pausing the game while you wait for that to happen can make the wait easier.

2) If you are just starting out in the game, and you have not spent any real money on In-App Purchases, you could delete the malfunctioning game from your device and reinstall it. Unfortunately, you will lose all progress you have made in the game and will need to start over from the beginning, but the game will operate normally again, as long as no further clock adjustments occur.

We realize that neither of these options are ideal, and we are looking at ways to prevent this situation from occurring in the first place.

Hi Heather. It is still empty. I have not TT'd with this family. Learned the hard way not to wink I know how to completely close an app by using 4 fingers in swipe up to bring up open apps and pushing the x in corner or home button twice to do same. I do admit to TT occasionally for another game that involves moving ahead one day, back three days and then correct time. Takes 2 minutes and I am sure no game is open in memory when I do this. Bummer that I cannot do this with my other game even when it is not open frown. Would pausing Vf2 each time I TT for other game work. The TT is only a few days, not years.

Yes, I have made in-app purchases so do not want to start over. So I guess I will pause the game for 3-4 days to see if it works.

I'm afraid I can't advise pausing the game while you time travel in the other game. The game will be affected by clock adjustments even when it's paused. Unfortunately, it's very easy to forget to close an app when you're juggling games and time-travel. frown

Since time travel can mess up much more than a game you are playing, we don't recommend any course of action that leads to time travel. I'm very sorry, boet.

At least the TT was only 1 day ahead smile I hope it catches up.
