All the puzzles are solved, but it's taking sooooo long to convert the yellow and red masked ones, and managing to keep enough food in the food bin is taking everything in the book. I am about ready to quit, because this is just ridiculous!!!

I always put every adult on harvesting when crops are ready, dragging and dropping them on the crops rather than having them walk all the way. This way the crops are picked faster and it seems that there's more in the bin. Also, the next batch of crops will be ready sooner (in our time) because harvesting went so quickly. There are other ways to get more food. Have you discovered any of them? Hint:

This probably won't help this game, but for future reference: If you stop yourself from building the sewing hut, but drop it as close as you can to the left corner of the mud hut area, it will block most of the villagers from walking directly through the crowd of heathens while fishing.
Also, if you don't bring the lake back to life, your only food source (at least from adults) will be the farm, which you can Bloom at will. That will completely eliminate the problem of walking through the heathens. You will have to pay attention to the farm, but it's possible.
I assume that you've fully researched food. If not, there's your problem.
If you're playing at 2x speed it is harder to sustain a large population, but it should never be that hard.
I never have any problem keeping food in the bin. I first considered this a problem, that the game was too easy, that there was no real strategy any more, but now I'm just trying for personal records and fun little games within the game, like getting a population approaching 150 (current record is 137).

I have reached the conclusion that better building placement would have helped, but I didn't know about... using the hand of bloom on the garden...doh...I can't believe I never tried it (I DID try to revive the lake that way, LOL

Hi mysteryshrimp. How did you get a population of 137 in VV5: New Believers?

Basically, you don't convert anyone, keep having babies all the way up to 105 population, be patient enough to get a bunch of island events that add to the heathen population (Barrel of Babies, Find Heathen Mask on the Ground, Five Pools, etc.), and when you get bored and/or satisfied, start converting heathens.
Your energy levels do top out at 1000, though. And you do get bored waiting for people to die off so that you can have more kids.

This might seem strange, but the best way is to turn the game off for a while, having made sure you've got several villagers trained as farmers. When the game is off, there is no algorithm for them being hassled by the heathens, so they are able to deliver all their fish to the food bin without interruptions.

There's great information here in the forums. Here are a couple of threads that will help you (especially if you don't have the Official Game Guide). Helpful link #1 and Very helpful info on this entire page (especially Arthur's tip). I'm not too proud to admit that the first time I played VV5 I was completely frustrated as well. Actually I felt quite stupid but I'm not sure if it's ok to use that word on the forums. and after 1-1/2 hours I needed a break and to figure out a strategy. I figured it out though!!! Hang in there and keep trying! You CAN do this!
