Thats a pretty major graphical glitch there.

WOW that is the weirdest glitch I have ever seen in any of the VV games.

Are you sure you haven't been doing anything to the images or installing mods? That looks like what happens when you break the images for the map. I guess it's possible they didn't load correctly when you started the game. If it's now permanently like this, you should try reinstalling the images (by reinstalling the game, unless you have backups of the Images folder).

Is there really an eclipse event? I haven't had this happen and I've played the game through so many times. Thanks for any responses.

Even if there were an eclipse event, it would probably just make the screen darker, like it does when the weather changes. The sections that didn't glitch out look like they are normal brightness, so we can rule an actual event out.

I think that if VVCX's game were permanently like that s/he would have made a post looking for help. I've (very) occasionally seen similar effects, usually while loading or if my system is very busy. They've only lasted a short while. Alternatively, it could be the result of an attempt at a mod that went wrong.

Its not game glitch, my software firewall decided to run VV5 as partially limited so game didn't have access for all resources it needed.

All terrain except water and Heathens area were black..

I like the idea of a real eclipse in a VV game. Maybe Arthur and LDW people could include something like that in games to come. It would make a great island event.

Maybe an event like this:

<name> sees that an eclipse is about to take place!

Tell the adults: Gain Science Tech/Eclipse all ready over

Stay and watch: <name> gains science skill!

I cant believe that a glitch has inspired us to make a new event for the VV series. And who says all glitches are bad this one seems to be pretty helpful. I really like the thought of the person gaining science skill or the tribe gaining tech points. That event really should be in the next VV chapter.
