I got my villagers to get rid of the Hungry totem, but two heathens keep guarding the firewood. What do I have to do to get them to leave?

You can lure them away using one of your non-workers (a child or nursing mom), while you

sure, lure them away and then .... there is a super way to keep them away. just hover the villager you are using to lure them away slowly, slowly kinda over their heads and all the ones you are luring away will come to a stop right under the villager you are working with. While they are all stopped press the M key and the map will come up .... then click on the map and it will hold them all right there....seems for ever they will stay right there.
then all the work can be done around them. it's so super cool!!!

Thanks for the tip, it worked for me, after the second try. Now I have the statue finished to where it needs more research and hopefully I can get a hut built.
