The maximum population depends on four things.

  • the number of huts. If you have all three, you have a max population of 90.
  • finished collections. Each completed collection adds five villagers to the maximum, plus another five if you've completed both, making a possible maximum of 105,
  • converted heathens. Any converted heathens are added even if the maximum would be exceeded, although it's only temporary: when someone dies, they are not replaced.
  • multiple births. If the population falls below the maximum and a mother has twins or triplets the population might go above the maximum by one or two. As with the heathens, that is only temporary.
