I searched for an answer to this but the results didn't give me the answer I was looking for. In fact it didn't give me anywhere near what I searched for.

Anyway, what I needed to know was how to get a master devotee when all blue heathens have been converted? I tried assigning someone to polish the statue but it didn't increase the person's devotion skills. And I tried to get someone to honor but it just said they were confused and walked away.
So I thought I'd put them with a master devotee but that didn't work either. So what are you supposed to do to get a master in devotion?

I typed the word devotion in the search box, clicked Go, and got these two topics:

Devotion skills

How do I train my villagers in devotion? No heathens left!

I typed devotion and got runners, heathen chief, and builders.
Sorry, for posting this.

It's perfectly fine to post when you're having problems finding answers. I just like to help people come up with effective searches, so they can find what they need faster. laugh

So how do I get the master devotees to teach the trainees?
All construction is done. If I put trainees on the statue they just polish it. And their status says untrained.

I assigned the retired chief to teach in the nursery but he has the attention span of a gnat. He won't stay in the nursery. He's worse than a two year old.

I'm at a loss. This is the first VV game I have played.
I've played VF. But that's a different game.

Unfortunately, at the point in the game where you're at, the only way to build devotion skill in villagers who have none is to
Click to reveal..
have someone very skilled in devotion teach children in the nursery school.
It can help to leave your game off while this is happening, since the villagers aren't distracted by laundry and other non-productive things when the game is off.

2 ways to get devotion is getting Island Event
Click to reveal..
where 1 villager finds Heathen's mask (I have got it twice) and if you get it then reply that to use/wear it or other Event where 1 villager wants to goto bathing but Heathens occupy it (I got that event few days ago and I have "owned" bathing area since early days) and answer that to sneak to bath or something like that and villager gets caught and converted.

Events are very unpredictable, and many players will never see certain events. That's why I don't typically suggest those as a means of attaining goals, although they are a nice boon when they happen. laugh

I got the event about the broken mask and the heathen wearing a bag over his head. That gave a child devotion skills.
But she's still a child.

I actually got a event very soon after I started the game where the kid found a lost toy, so I had him return it. He gained devotion skill from that.

The kid won't be able to use the skill until they turn 14.

Well, the kids won't stay in the nursery long enough to be taught.
They leave when teacher with the attention span of a gnat leaves.
But all of the nursing mothers hang out there to play.
Does that help the babies get devotion skill?
I didn't think so. smile

Over time, the kids will return to the nursery. When the game is off, particularly, they will gain the skills, provided that they are being taught by someone with a good mix of skills.

The converted heathen chief is ideal for that job.
My kids are leaving the nursery at 14 with adept-level skills in all the choices.

I use the converted chief to teach at the nursery. His likes are children. But he has no attention span. He keeps running all over the place. Too bad I can't set his preferences to teaching.
The nursing mommies stay in the nursery most of the time. Their status reads playing in the nursery.

I wish that would happen in my game. I have my chief teaching, but the kids are lucky to get maybe half-way to Trainee in one skill. They're still all lazying around the fire, not sure what to do, when they turn 14.

The kids in my game aren't getting adept level skills in all the choices either.

so far my tribe's kids have all been trainers at 14 and have been in need of "extra lessons"so they start working.

edit: what comes to devotion-skill, many my villagers have that skill around halfway to trainee (father/mother or both has/have been master devotee) but since no easy way to increase it they don't get it more.
