What I do is just keep family trees, that way I can keep track of how people are related, (and plus, I love looking at family trees, real or not. I must have about 30 of them from various VV games, by now). I also put down their father's first name as their last name, and if it's a girl I throw in the mom's name as a middle name, just to be fair to mommy.
