I've noticed people talking about having more than one family at the same time and I was just wondering how to go about doing that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you go to the Menu, at the top you may read "Current Player:" then the name of your family. Click on this name and you'll have 4 other players. They are the other families!
Usually, people use those for things like 'genetically mutating' families, or tribes. Maybe for hair color or likes or dislikes; It's a lot of hard work running 2,3, or even 4 spots at the same time!
