Non-Caucasian Characters?

I've been wondering when a character of African, Asian, Native American, or Eastern Indian descent might show up and so far, I've only had white characters. I was really hoping for an interracial couple. Are there really only white characters in the game? And has there been any update/fix since the game was created that you can download and add diversity to the adoptee pool?

If make a request at the Mod forum and modder just might make a mod to add in African, Asian,Native american, or eastern indian skin tones, Keep in mind though, that the modder will only be able to make only one one skin tone and that would replace all the other skin tones. I hope I helped!

Lewanda did a mod 1-1/2 years ago. It too is just 1 skin-tone but it is an option. You can find it here. There are also a number of VV and VF players who have edited images so that other players can have a variety of images to choose from and they do it in their spare time. There are 45 pages for them for Virtual Families alone. I am thankful for everyone who has donated their personal time and created mods to share with the world and I am very thankful to LDW for the hundreds of hours of game enjoyment I have had over the years and continue to have with each new game they develop. Game development is a huge task and can take years before a product is ready to be released for game play. It also takes alot of money. I'm sure LDW would love for everyone to have a personalized family in Virtual Families. We all must keep in mind that LDW is a small company and they do an amazing job. Arnie made a comment last year that I think is worth repeating: "To develop lots of versions would be more expensive for LDW, meaning that the price would be higher." If the game cost $75 or more would enough people buy it? Rockmower also made a post last year that I think helps to keep things in perspective. If you're interested in reading it you can find it here.

I'd like it if this was addressed in Virtual Villagers as well. I've never quite gotten over the cognitive dissonance of all these white people living in what are clearly meant to be South Sea Islands. Shouldn't they look sort of Hawaiian?

I've never quite gotten over the cognitive dissonance of all these white people living in what are clearly meant to be South Sea Islands. Shouldn't they look sort of Hawaiian? Tarori, I think you might be interested in the post here. This quote from Lady CFI explains why there isn't a diverse range of skin tones: In addition to the fact that these villagers have all descended from a group of refugees from a single, fictitious island, there is also a technical reason for the "cultural" similarity of the villagers. The heads and bodies have to be interchangeable so that different head and bodies will go together. For each head and body there are many different views and poses, and all of those take a lot of work to create. Just like the male and female villagers have to be handled separately (so that a male head isn't placed on a female body, for example), each different skin tone would have to be managed separately. It's not impossible, but isn't necessarily a practical thing to do in Virtual Villagers. I think we need to put things into perspective and accept the fact that all of the LDW games would be a lot more expensive (as stated by others), should they include all of the things we suggest. Although I personally think that it (skin tones) would be a good idea, I don't know how hard it would be to change the game. Do you want me to post a request for a mod to be made?
