With every new VV game, I hope that they will fix this problem, but they never do. I call it "Untrained Syndrome", or "VV3 Syndrome". The reason I call it that is, once you finish all puzzles/ research all technologies, all you can do is expand you village, right? Well, you expand the population, and suddenly, you have 20 14 year olds saying "Unsure What to Do", and all they can do really is fix huts or add to the surplus of tech points. The reason I also call it VV3 Syndrome is that although I encountered it in VV2, I really noticed it in VV3, when I would have 60+ villagers with nothing to do. So, what are your thoughts on Untrained Syndrome, and your methods to stop it?

Once I finish all the puzzles, I just let the villager do what they want, if the population or food are down, I train some people.

Yeah, this happened to me.
A way to fight it is to have the chief teach the children; I did this immediantly after it became too noticeable. laugh

BUT every new generation has to be lectured, or else it'll be more and more lazy people. shocked

If, as Joine The Great says, you have the chief teach the children regularly, you shouldn't find this problem. I've seen it several times when I've left the game for several days, so that a new generation of kids has grown up without any teaching.

A similar situation can also appear in VV4. Although most villagers have gained skills in the nursery, they tend to hang about without starting work of their own accord. Once they are put to work on one of the skills they've learned, though, they will normally carry on without any further interference from the hand.

I find this is common even after the Chief trains, because some of the children get skill in "parenting", which unlike the other four is a career they cannot start at 14. So those with "parenting" will sit by the fire until they are 18 or so before they begin their lifetime of parenting. smile

There's actually an award that makes it worthwhile to assign people to research after all the puzzles are complete (the million points thing). But yeah, you still have to chase them down to get them to learn researching.

Hmmm, I take it back. It's earn a million, not accumulate a million (should use a different word, for the food accumulate means actually holding at one time, not the total over time). Oh well.

jjmcgaffey, is there really some kind of reward if you hit one million points? I've never played the game that long and would be interested if I do reach that many points what would happen.

It's just the 'awards' that are on the second screen of puzzles. Triplets, a 90-year-old (haven't managed that one yet - of course my only village so far has been a Magic one, no great longevity), accumulate 20,000 food...all that happens is that the grayed-out award becomes vivid. As far as I can see, the awards don't change the game at all.

Thanks. I just started a new tribe and I'm going to try to get more points. I like the tips I pick up on this board. I've been playing VV3 for a couple years and never knew the Chief could teach! It's really is amazing.
