I have never done something like this before: Am I supposed to back up my savegame files? If yes, where are they? Do I just go to the site where I downloaded the game and re-download it? Or should I see if I can find my Proof of Purchase and have you folks at LDW help me? I have never done something like this before, and as such, I am totally clueless about what I should do.

You should be able to install the updated game over the old version without problems, but it might be an idea to be safe, just so that if something goes wrong during the install (unlikely but possible), you will still have your backups.

Here's the FAQ for backing up the files - it's for Windows, so if you use a Mac you'll have to change the platform on the FAQ page. Remember also that the install will ovewrite any mods you might be using, so it'd be a good idea to backup the \images folder as well, so that you can reinstall the mods easily.

Before you update, make sure that you back up any mods that you may have installed, since installing the update will replace all of the game's files, including images and audio. Your savegame files should be fine, since they are located in a user directory.

Arthur provided the details in his announcement post. It's unlikely that the other game distributors have the update available so soon, so if you purchased VF from another site, just follow his instructions for how to get the game from us.
