also... maybe a single parent family every generation would be interesting to try, IF you got the adoption option every time.

I'm like Midii, I like for my families to have as many kids as possible. My last family only had 4 kids, which is unusual for me, but dad was waiting for a Perfect Match and I guess he waited just a little too long. Funny thing is that he had adopted a child before he married and she ended up being the one to inherit the house! LOL!

Nope, and, I don't think I will. Perhaps one generation, if I were to adopt first. But, just in case someone takes the only child off to go somewhere or something happens to them... Well... I like to have more options.

I wish I had a choice *sigh* My people will not have more than 1 or at the most 2 and I never get any twins or triplets.
I have given most of them a doctor's consultation - none need baby boost and still they are decided not keen on the child-thing.
And it is not because they have children on their "dislikes".

Usually, Midii and le01, it's because they're old.Unless they're like 32, that's the case. For example, one of my families only had a kid at age 35, and I didn't make them have another, so they only had one kid until they died.

AwesomePerson, like Midii, I am not convinced about the age thing either. I have had 5 families running for some time and most are over 5 generations, but it has been a struggle just to create one heir - and it is not for want of trying *wink* And in one stubborn case I started trying when they both were 24 and it was not until they turned 43 I succeeded.

I like my couples to have as many children as possible. Just because a persons preference is "Definitely wants children, No Way", etc doesn't mean that baby making will be any easier. And just because a doctor consult doesn't tell you the first time that a person might need baby boost if they want to have children doesn't mean they won't ever need it. One of my couples had several children and suddenly the "need" for baby boost came up in one of the consultations. Weird. When my couples try to make a baby and are unsuccessful, I try again every 15-20 minutes, sometimes even 30 minutes, until they are successful. In one of my paused games I have over 32 generations.

Hmmm, never thought about that before. I usually try for as many kids as possible, but like to change the status quo. Each family is different and I have had a few single parents by accident aka having a single guy, adopting right after he moved in, and then abandoning them until he died. Otherwise he would have gotten married. I've also had one family where the dad died and left the mom with two sets of triplets to take care of: the first three were five and the second three were still babies. Unfortunately the mom died shortly after the second triplets turned four and then two of the second triplets died of sickness, the last one died along with one from the first set of triplets from starvation (They couldn't afford food because there wasn't any income).

Horsecrazy123, that is sooo sad! If that ever gets near to happening again (no adults to earn money and no money for food) I suggest starting the next generation. At least then you can select an heir and the heir can work and earn money. Plus you wouldn't have to watch the children die.

I have always had 6 kids. To do it I: 1. choose peeps in their early 20's if possible. especially in the first couple of generations. 2. i select peeps where at least one is a definite for kids and the other must be at least a would be nice prefer both to be definitely's though. 3. I start for kids as soon as female has gotten one promotion and pause the game every time i leave it until i have 6 kids. 4. I begin trying for the next baby as soon as I can after the mom is through nursing the one before. 5. i don't let arguments stop me lol keep dropping them together until they comply. If don't get one on that try try again in 15-30 min. 6. in later generations i give baby boost to both when they marry
has worked for me always get 6 kids to choose the next generation from.

I decided to have an only child with the option of having another one later if anything happened to that first one. I waited until the parents were well on in their careers then tried for the baby. Wouldn't you know it, Mum had TRIPLETS!!!! I think these little peeps are mind readers The funniest thing about that experiment was that Dad was a "No Way". He sent me an email, "I can't believe we had three babies. It's a zoo round here!" First time I ever saw that in an email too! Nearly fell off my chair laughing.
