In all the VV games (I assume VV4 is no exception but I've not specifically checked) villagers with just Level 1 Medicine become 'Elderly' at 50. Those with Level 2 become 'Elderly' at 58. and it's 66 for Level 3. The villagers on average die later with a higher level, as well.
That seems about right to me. Modern-day life expectancy in the developed countries is much higher than it was a century ago because of advances in medical knowledge. No doubt the villagers have made some of the same advances.
What does rather surprise me is that the peeps in Virtual Families become 'Elderly' at 55 and rarely live past their late 60s, even though they seem to live in a first-world suburban house. The villagers, meanwhile, who live on an island in the middle of nowhere, cut off from modern civilisation, live some 10-15 years longer on average.
Still, Isola is a magic island ...
