As you know you have the berry bush. Have a builder uncover the well. Next you need to buy level 2 farming. There is a patch of soil beneath the research table. After buying level two farming drop a farmer on the patch of soil, after he plants seeds and waters it, the crops will begin to grow. This will take awhile. To be able to fish your villagers must have the beach debris cleared and level 3 farming. The best way I find to reach the tech is have everyone but a farmer researching. Also do not increase your population too fast as it will cause your villagers to starve faster. Keep it around 10 once you get the crops. I hope this helps.
