I think you're talking at cross-purposes here.
What esther is referring to is
that there is no need to wait until the kid has taken the collectible to the lab or wherever. You can interrupt them and the collectible will still count.
What ajuma is talking about is
the exploit that allows you to place two kids on the same collectible or mushroom and you can get credit from both.
